Michai White has spent the past year building a strong case as one of the top guards in the Class of 2028.
After an eye-opening spring and summer with Albany City Rocks, White is now preparing for the next stage of his development following a move from Brewster Academy to Prolific Prep.
White made a major statement this summer while playing up on the 17U Nike EYBL circuit. Competing against older and more physically developed prospects, he consistently produced at a high level and emerged as one of the most productive young guards in the country.
His summer included several big scoring performances, highlighted by a 36 point outing, while his overall play showed continued growth as a lead guard.
White’s ability to change speeds, create separation, get downhill and score from multiple levels made him difficult to contain. More importantly, he continued to show progress as a passer and decision-maker, proving that his game is developing beyond simply putting points on the board.
That progression began during his time at Brewster Academy, where White competed in one of the country’s strongest prep basketball environments. Playing alongside other high-level prospects forced him to become more comfortable sharing the basketball, defending better guards and learning how to impact games without always controlling every possession.
Now he heads to Prolific Prep, another national program even more loaded with talent.
The move should provide White with an even bigger stage and another opportunity to sharpen his point guard skills. With multiple high-level players around him, White will be challenged to manage the game, make quicker decisions and become even more efficient.
For Prolific Prep, White adds another dynamic creator capable of scoring, facilitating and controlling tempo.
His recruitment has grown just as quickly.
White has received offers from programs including Auburn, Florida State, Houston, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Providence, Stanford, Syracuse, VCU, Villanova and Virginia, among others.
He has also started the visit process, including a documented visit to Providence, while several other high-major programs continue to remain involved.
The next step for White will be continuing to improve his shooting consistency, strength and efficiency while developing into an even more complete floor general.
After proving himself against older competition throughout the summer, White enters the upcoming season with significant momentum.
The move to Prolific Prep gives Michai White another opportunity to show why he belongs in the conversation among the top players in the Class of 2028.
