McKnight Finds Fit at Utah; Jones Gives Texas A&M a Physical Wing

By Make5Media Staff | October 27, 2026

6’0″ PG Jamaal McKnight (Iowa United Prep) committed to Utah on Tuesday following a weekend visit, while 6’6″ F Dylan Jones (Bartlett) selected Texas A&M on Monday. The two additions give their future coaches different tools: a point guard for Alex Jensen in Salt Lake City and a strong, productive wing for Bucky McMillan in College Station.

The weekend in Salt Lake City answered enough of McKnight’s questions to bring his recruitment to a close. He chose Utah over Kansas, UNLV and Boise State, joining shooting guard Pierce Thompson in Jensen’s 2027 class. His comfort with the staff and the atmosphere around the program helped turn the visit into a commitment.

Utah is getting a guard who has already carried a meaningful share of an offense. McKnight averaged 13.6 points and 4.1 assists at Long Island Lutheran last season, adding 3.4 rebounds and shooting 36 percent from three. He will spend his senior year at Iowa United Prep after earlier stops at Long Island Lutheran and DeMatha Catholic.  For Jensen, the commitment puts another piece of the backcourt in place. Thompson and McKnight give Utah two perimeter prospects to develop together, with a full senior season remaining before either has to earn his place in a college rotation.

Dylan Jones gives Texas A&M a wing with the strength to play through contact and a record of producing against good competition. He picked the Aggies over fellow finalists Ole Miss and Providence, becoming McMillan’s second commitment in the 2027 class alongside point guard Chase Richardson.  Bartlett won 35 games and the Tennessee Class 4A championship during Jones’ junior season. He supplied 16.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, shooting 35.4 percent from three.  On the AAU circuit. Jones averaged 17 points and 5.5 rebounds with Team Thad in EYBL play and earned MVP honors at the Pangos All-American Camp. His production traveled.

That is what makes this an intriguing pickup for McMillan. Jones has enough size to give A&M options on the perimeter, and his scoring background offers a starting point for how he could be used offensively. His outside shooting will be part of that answer. Greater consistency would allow him to remain a threat when the ball is in someone else’s hands, an important quality alongside a point guard such as Richardson. A&M now has two recruits who give the staff a clearer direction for the rest of the class. Jones brings some scoring credentials, a college-ready frame and a winners  mentality.
