Leaving home is never an easy decision for an adult much less a teenager…leaving family, friends and familiar surroundings. For Micah Tucker(make5 #68) and his family, it was a decision that had to be made. Although Tucker found success at Mount Pisgah (GA), this was a well thought out decision and it was time to make the move. “I wanted to play against the best of the best and to play in front of more scouts”.
After researching his opportunities he landed on Huntington Prep (WV) for his junior year. For those that are unfamiliar with their history, Huntington Prep has been home to the likes of ANdrew Wiggins, Miles Bridges, Keldon Johnson, Jonathan Kuminga, JT Thor, Thomas Bryant and others….a rich tradition.
Yet, going from Metro Atlanta to Huntington, WV can be a tough transition. When asked about the change Tucker replied, “The transition has been smooth, school and hoop is all I do, so not different from being in Atlanta”. “I’m also using this opportunity to focus on my leadership and sharpening my weaknesses”, he continued.
6’3″ point guard is a very good on the ball defender, tough downhill, play-makes and can handle contact finishing plays. He’s working hard on his ever improving jumper and extending his range. “I also want to lead our team to a national championship”. Tucker is playing with the top guard in the the 2025 class, Darryn Peterson (make5 #4), another recent transfer to Huntington Prep. “DP has been good for me. He’s a very talented and unselfish player”. This pair will no doubt give the opposing guards fits.
College programs are taking notice as Tucker holds offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Georgia State, Cincinnati, UCF and Florida with interest from Baylor, Virginia and Ole Miss. Tucker doesn’t have any planned visits at the moment.
Atlanta area fans can catch Tucker, as they will be a feature team at the Holiday HoopsGiving over the Thanksgiving weekend. “I’m looking forward to HoopsGiving, it’s our only visit to the area this year”.
