ROCK HILL, S.C. — Border League East has brought together prospects at different stages of their basketball journeys. Some arrived with college commitments and established reputations. Others are working to earn that same attention.
Through Saturday, Chase Lumpkin, Xavier Hall, Jayon Connor and Raphael Ihunaegbo Jr. have emerged among the weekend’s notable names. St. Christopher Academy teammates Sylva Okauru and Kendrick Pulley also put together productive outings in a tight opening-night loss.
Chase Lumpkin — McEachern High School (GA)
6’4” | Class of 2027
Lumpkin entered Rock Hill as one of Georgia’s established senior guards and earned a place among Friday’s standouts. The Alabama commit gives McEachern a recognizable name heading into the season, and his opening-night recognition adds to an already busy fall.
Choosing Alabama settled his recruitment, but there is still a senior season to play. This weekend offers another opportunity to compete outside Georgia before turning his attention to what McEachern hopes to accomplish this winter.
Xavier Hall — Mooresville High School (NC)
6’9” | Class of 2028
Hall joined the opening-night conversation, giving the 2028 class a frontcourt representative among Friday’s notable performers. The Mooresville center continues to attract attention as his junior season approaches.
At 6-foot-9, Hall will draw a close look whenever he takes the floor. His recognition in Rock Hill adds another encouraging showing to follow as the schedule moves from fall showcases into the high school season.
Jayon Connor — Forsyth Country Day School (NC)
6’7” | Class of 2027
Connor was among the names that surfaced Saturday, putting the unsigned senior into the weekend’s standout discussion. For a prospect still considering his college future, these opportunities can carry particular significance.
The Forsyth Country Day forward has another season to strengthen his case, and Rock Hill provides an early chance to do so. His Saturday play gives college programs another reason to keep watching.
Raphael Ihunaegbo Jr. — Oneida Baptist Institute (KY)
6’5” | Class of 2030
Ihunaegbo earned attention Saturday despite being at the beginning of his high school career. The Oneida Baptist Institute freshman brings considerable size for his class and has become one of the younger names to follow from the event.
There is plenty of basketball ahead before his long-term outlook takes shape. For now, earning recognition in a field that includes established upperclassmen makes Rock Hill a worthwhile early chapter.
Sylva Okauru — St. Christopher Academy (NC)
6’8” | Class of 2029
Okauru gave St. Christopher production around the basket on both ends Friday, finishing with 13 points, five defensive rebounds and four blocks in a 60–56 loss to Franklin Prep National. He made six of nine attempts around the rim and in the paint.
His shot blocking and efficient finishing helped the Sentinels stay in the game as they worked back from a double-digit deficit. Although St. Christopher fell short, Okauru supplied a balanced contribution that deserves attention beyond the final score.
Kendrick Pulley — St. Christopher Academy (NC)
5’10” | Class of 2028
Pulley played a central role in that comeback, pairing 13 points with seven assists. He also knocked down the late three-pointer that pushed St. Christopher ahead 56–53 before Franklin Prep National closed with seven unanswered points.
The seven assists were an important part of his night. Pulley helped generate offense for teammates while contributing his own scoring, putting the Sentinels in position to win a game they had spent much of the evening chasing.
