Saturday Night Recap @ Sunshine Prep Showcase

Massanutten Academy edged out a nail-biting victory over NBA Africa, clinching the game with a clutch three-pointer by 2025 standout Panagiotis Pagonis in the final 30 seconds. NBA Africa’s last-second attempt to steal the win fell short as Ahmed Abouelela’s three-point shot was blocked.

The NBA Africa roster showcased a plethora of promising athletes with impressive length and versatility. Here are key players to watch:

    • Lewis Uvwo (6’10/C) – Strong presence in the paint.
    • Yakhya Diop (7’0/C) – Big-bodied center with defensive impact.
    • Ousseynou Sambe (6’8/PF) – Exceptional footwork and physicality.
    • Ahmed Abouelela (6’8/G) – Skilled shooter, relentless hustler, and fierce competitor.
    • Mouhamed Camara (6’8/F) – Versatile defender with great length.
    • Assane Mandian (6’5/G) – Consistent shooting threat.
    • Modou Thiam (6’5/G) – Delivered a pivotal three-pointer to give NBA Africa a temporary lead late in the second half.

This marked my second time watching Massanutten this season, and their growth as a team is evident with every outing. Panagiotis Pagonis continues to shine as a versatile stretch forward with a deep offensive skill set. 2026 guard Da’Kylan Hill was the defensive engine for Massanutten, displaying infectious toughness that fueled momentum-shifting plays for his teammates. Another standout was Ruey Ruey, whose sharp shooting from beyond the arc and mid-range consistency were critical in the second half. The dynamic scoring duo of Ruey and Pagonis proved to be the key to Massanutten’s success.

Massanutten Stat Line:

  • Panagiotis Pagonis – 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 three-pointers.
  • Ruey Ruey – 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 three-pointers.
  • Da’Kylan Hill – 8 points, 16 rebounds.

This game was a true showcase of talent and competitive spirit. Stay tuned for more in-depth coverage and player analysis from the Sunshine Prep Showcase!
