Derrion Reid on the move

Two seasons ago, 6’7″ 2024 WF Derrion Reid played a pivotal role in Grovetown’s run to the State Championship, beating the heavily favored Wheeler Wildcats in the process but was mainly a regional recruit and not garnering much national attention. Fast forward to today and Reid is considered a top 25 player after a big campaign on the EYBL circuit.

Reid has the tools to play many roles on the floor. His ability to pass allows coaches to use him as a point forward, when matched against smaller opponents he’s not immune to the block, against bigger players his ability to create scoring opportunities can take center stage. With his length he plays the passing lanes well and is a willing rebounder.

Take a look at the picture above, this will be your last time seeing Reid in a Grovetown uniform. He has decided to take his game west to Prolific Prep(CA) joiningforces with the likes of A.J. DybantsaTyran StokesZoom DialloAiden Sherrell, and others. No doubt this will be an exciting team to watch. “I wanted to put myself in a situation where I could be pushed in my development and to play against a higher level of competition”, when asked about his decision. “I want to get myself prepared for college”.

Reid has goals for this season, “I want a spot on the McDonald’s All-American team”, something that’s well within reach following his successful spring/summer campaign and the upcoming exposure playing with one of the countries most talented teams.

Reid holds offers from many including Alabama, Auburn, UGA, Florida, FSU, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Cincinnati, Kansas State, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and Xavier. He’s also received interest from Arkansas, Oklahoma and USC. He has a planned official visit on September 7th with FSU and in process of setting up a date with Alabama. Future visits with UGA, Alabama, Georgia Tech and LSU are also targets for visits.

Reid is planning to sign during the early signing period and his decision will be based on the programs style of play and family/team dynamics. He prefers a well-coached, fast-paced team, not defined by position, where he can utilize his versatility.
