Rock Hill, SC — Marcis Ponder, a towering 7’0” center from Miami, FL, is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most physically dominant big men in the 2026 class. A product of Team Breakdown (FL), Ponder uses his sheer size and strength to overwhelm opponents in the paint, embracing contact, finishing through traffic, and controlling the glass.
Whether he’s setting bone crushing screens, cleaning up missed shots or anchoring the interior on defense, Ponder thrives doing the dirty work. His improved conditioning was evident at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, enabling him to play with a high level of energy. Although his run was cut short due to a nose injury after just one game, Ponder made his presence felt posting an impressive 13 points and 14 rebounds in limited action.
After speaking with him, it’s clear that his mindset is as imposing as his frame. “My family’s not in the best situation, they need my help. That’s my motivation” Ponder shared. Ponder takes pride in his role as an enforcer and winner. “A program is getting someone who doesn’t care about stats. I want 15+ rebounds and 10+ blocks. I do the stuff nobody wants to do” he said. Off the court, he has a creative side with a passion for art, clothing design, and of course, food. Recruitment wise, Ponder’s stock is climbing. He’s recently heard from: Florida State, Memphis, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Indiana, Providence, Rutgers, Sacramento State, and Miami.
