Syracuse Moves On From Adrian Autry, Launches National Search for Next Head Coach

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball program is officially back on the coaching market after parting ways with head coach Adrian Autry following three seasons at the helm. The move signals a reset for a program still trying to find its footing in the post-Jim Boeheim era.

Autry, a former Syracuse point guard and longtime assistant under Boeheim, was promoted in 2023 with hopes that continuity would help keep the Orange competitive in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Instead, Syracuse struggled to regain national traction

Why Syracuse Made the Move

Despite the strong ties, results ultimately dictated the decision.  Syracuse failed to reach the NCAA Tournament in all three seasons under Autry. The Orange hovered around the .500 mark during his tenure and struggled to compete consistently against top ACC competition.

The 2025–26 campaign proved to be the tipping point. Syracuse finished 15–17 and closed the season with six straight losses, including an early exit in the ACC Tournament. With the program drifting further from its traditional March expectations, Syracuse leadership decided it was time to make a change.
