2028 Jordan Mitchell (Louisville Male, KY): on the rise

Male sophomore Jordan Mitchell (Class of 2028) has quickly become one of Kentucky’s most talked-about underclassmen, an athletic, physically advanced 6’3” combo guard who plays bigger than his position and impacts the game as a scorer and playmaker.

Mitchell’s game is built on power + pace. He’s at his best attacking downhill, finishing through contact, and using his size to create advantages, either to get to the rim or force rotations for kick-outs. Where his game stands:

  • Downhill pressure & physical finishing (strong takes, contact balance, gets into the lane)
  • Shot-making range (knocks down 3s when defenders go under)
  • Playmaking flashes (post-entry feeds, drive-and-kick reads, secondary creation)
  • Two-way motor (hustles, competes, can guard multiple spots with his frame)

Mitchell has already stacked high-impact performances at Male High School against quality competition:

  • 25 points vs. Trinity in a rivalry win, a game that also pushed him into “athlete of the week” conversations locally.

  • In highly anticipated matchup against highly regarded 2028 G Josh Lindsay (St. Xavier) he dropped 26 points, five rebounds and the win.

  • Earned MVP honors at the King of the Bluegrass, the preeminent event in Kentucky where he averaged 26 points per game, leading #3 ranked Male to wins over the #1, #2, #4 ranked teams in the state.

Recruiting offers and serious high-major interest

  • Morehead State — Offered
  • Virginia Tech — Offered

High-major interest include:

  • Auburn  unofficial vist

  • Missouri unofficial visit

  • Michigan, planned unofficial visit

  • Louisville unofficial visit

Mitchell’s combination of size, strength, and creation ability is exactly what college staffs prioritize early with big guards. As his jumper continues to improve and he keeps sharpening the “PG reads” (pace, decision-making vs. loaded help), he projects as the type of high-major priority who can impact a game without needing the offense built around him.
