Bishop McNamara & Columbus put on a show

Bishop McNamara 79, Garfield Heights 59

Bothered visually by a shoulder he tweaked the night before, Qayden Samuels showed zero signs of slowing down. The explosive guard came out hot and stayed hot, pouring in 40 points to lead Bishop McNamara High School to a convincing win.

Samuels was flanked by Prince Moody, who picked up right where he left off from the previous night, adding 26 points and providing steady secondary scoring. McNamara seized control with a dominant second-quarter surge, opening up a 20-point lead and never looking back.

For Garfield Heights High School, Marcus Johnson led the way with 27 points, but the Bulldogs couldn’t recover once McNamara found its rhythm on both ends.

McNamara’s balance, pace, and defensive pressure proved too much as they closed out a wire-to-wire second half.

Gaskins Powers Columbus to Wire-to-Wire Win

A dominant first-quarter surge set the tone as Columbus overwhelmed St. John Bosco High School, riding a complete performance from Caleb Gaskins.

The Miami signee was a force on both ends of the floor, finishing with 30 points and seven rebounds, but his impact went far beyond the box score. Gaskins set the defensive tone by taking on the challenge of guarding Christian Collins, making every catch, drive, and finish difficult. His physical, disciplined defense kept Collins off balance for long stretches and helped Columbus maintain separation throughout the game.

Marcellus Jackson provided key support with 16 points, helping Columbus sustain control after its early burst.

Collins battled through the pressure to post 22 points and 10 rebounds for Bosco, while Max Ellis added 16 points in the loss.

Columbus’ early intensity and two-way dominance from Gaskins proved decisive, as they controlled the game from start to finish.
