Tournament of Champions – Holiday Classic

ELCA vs. Holy Innocents’ (HIES)

Holy Innocents’ leaned on balance, toughness, and timely scoring to take down ELCA 71–64.

ELCA Notes

AJ Williams

AJ Williams (2028, W, 6’8″) — Williams once again showed why many consider him the top player nationally in his class. At 6’8” with power and touch, he’s simply too big and too skilled to defend one-on-one. He scored from multiple levels, cleaned the glass at an elite rate, and consistently attracted double and even triple-teams on the block. Would like to see him capitalize a bit more as a passer out of pressure — the next evolution of his game. Finished with a dominant 33 points.

Jeremiah Evans (2028, PF, 6’9”) — Evans has upside written all over him. Still learning to hold deep post position, but shows a smooth face-up stroke, rebounds his area, and has the tools to stretch the floor long-term. High-potential prospect to track.

Ethan Allen (2027, PG) — Speedy lead guard who showed range and confidence. Consistently got downhill and forced rotations, creating clean kick-out looks. Finished with 13 points and several paint touches that changed ELCA’s spacing.

HIES Notes

Devin Hutcherson (Belmont commit) — Physical wing who got to his spots and did damage around the rim. Attacked closeouts and earned trips to the line, though free throws limited a potentially huge scoring night. Finished with 16 points and set the tone with strong post-ups and bully drives.

Jaden McCullough

Jaden McCullough (2028 ) — Talented combo guard who continues trending upward. Plays both ends, pushes tempo, and showed confidence scoring it himself — dropped 20 points tonight. Would like to see him stay in attack mode; major stock riser.

Khai Worthy (F) — Efficient night with 16 points, staying active as a slasher, rim runner, and rebounder. Energy piece that helped swing momentum.

Colt Witzigreuter (2028, C, 6’9”) — Still raw offensively, but worked hard defensively. Altered shots and competed on the glass.

King Araujo (2029) — Looked more comfortable handling pressure and initiating offense. Still had stretches of over-dribbling that led to turnovers, but his flashes show high potential.

Hillgrove vs. Alexander

A fast-paced, physical game where both teams traded runs and defensive intensity controlled the outcome.

Alexander

Jayden Crawford

Georgia Southern signee PG Jayden Crawford came out firing — 14 first-half points while running the show with confidence. Alexander’s defensive pressure forced quick decisions early and had Hillgrove rattled in the opening quarter. Crawford was limited to just five points in the second half as Hillgrove adjusted, but his burst and shot-making remain high-major qualities.

Hillgrove

Bryson Jatta

Hillgrove responded with toughness of their own, trailing just 28–25 at the half. They grabbed control early in the third behind the play of Asa Montgomery and 2028 PG Bryson Jatta.

Bryson Jatta (2028) — One of the best in the state at pushing the ball ahead and creating easy offense. Defends with energy, competes every possession, and can make shots.

Asa Montgomery

Asa Montgomery (2027) — Huge two-way outing with 22 points and multiple game-changing defensive plays. Hit clutch free throws late to keep Alexander from making a final push.

Landon Grundy (WF) — Quiet X-factor who did all the little things: defended, rebounded, and stayed active throughout. His motor will directly impact Hillgrove’s ceiling this season.

Hillgrove closed strong at the stripe and pulled out a 54–49 win, backed by defensive tempo changes and disciplined late-game execution.

Colben Landrew

Wheeler closed out Super Saturday at the Tournament of Champions Holiday Classic with a statement, using a dominant third quarter to pull away from visiting Coronado (NV) for a 73–59 win on December 6 at Wheeler High School in Marietta.

Jaron Saulsberry

The Wildcats, ranked near the top of the national polls and now 6–0 on the season, leaned on their depth and physicality to wear down a talented Coronado group loaded with Division I prospects.    The matchup featured a long list of high-major names on both sides, including Ole Miss signee Jaron Saulsberry, UConn signee Colben Landrew, Clemson signee Amare James, and dynamic junior point guard Kevin Savage III for Wheeler, against Munir Greig , Missouri State signee Amare Oba , and 2028 guard Devaughn Dorrough for Coronado.

Coronado actually shot the ball well overall, going 20-of-37 from the field (54%), including 7-of-15 from three (47%), but 12 turnovers and Wheeler’s defensive pressure swung control of the game after halftime.

Munir Greig

Junior wing Munir Greig continued his strong early-season run, finishing with 18 points and 8 rebounds while going 8-of-11 at the foul line and adding 4 assists and 2 steals. Senior forward Amare Oba provided 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting, and senior guard Jonny Collins chipped in with three made threes to keep the Cougars within striking distance.

Savage led Wheeler with 17pts and six assist, Landrew followed with 16pts with Saulsberry adding 15pts and Lamarrion Lewis chipping in 10pts and six assist.
