2024 Top100 – Top 5 Guards

There’s going to be a general theme among the top players at Top100…MOTOR! Everyone of these top players come with distinct abilities but each of them play with a motor, nothing cool about these players, and that translates to all levels.

6-3 2025 PG Maleek Thomas was dominant throughout the camp. His conditioning allows him to affect all facets of the game. He was terrific in transition, finishing at a high rate and making the right reads for others. When the game slowed down he effectively utilized ball screens for himself or others, scoring on pull-ups and floaters or catching rollers and cutters. He does have a tendency of over dribbling but is very coachable and should be cleaned up overtime. Loves defensive challenges, guarding best perimeter player while rebounding out of his position.

6-4 2025 PG Brayden Burries is as competitive as they come. His physicality, use of pace and change of direction makes him a consistent threat in the front court. He was one of the best point guards utilizing ball screens, getting paint touches and scoring with floaters and short pull-ups. Going under the screen against him is not advisable with his long range ability. Defensively his physicality allows him to get over screens and push the ball-handler off his line. He is another quality rebounder from the position.

6-5 2025 CG Darius Adams the camps leading scorer played with his usual smooth pace, but don’t let that fool you, his added strength since last year’s camp was evident as absorbed bumps and finished plays in the paint. Adams has a quick trigger and deep range. His ability to navigate ball screens and finish with floaters and pull-ups or finding his teammates are high level. Adams changes pace, direction well and even shows the ability to play the point as he continues to develop his game.

6-3 2025 PG Kingston Flemings as traditional point guards go may be the closest thing in high school basketball. I saw Flemings for the first time in the 2023 Underclassman AllAmerican Game in Atlanta. I came away impressed, in an environment where everyone wanted to be a scorer, with his willingness to play setup man. Fast forward to now and he still has those tendencies. He plays with great pace, scores the ball on all levels but is a major threat, reading the defense for drops, lobs, hitting corner three shooters or scoring himself. He’s a tough defender and a willing rebounder from the guard spot. Are you hearing a trend with these elite guards? A willingness to rebound!

6-2 2025 PG Acaden Lewis is the player that will probably make the biggest jump in the national rankings from his camp performance. There was a buzz amongst the college coaches with his ability to get paint touches, his use of ball screens and his efficiency with the dribble, not wasting time attacking his defender. In this day and age of incessant dribbling he spends his time going south, not east and west. Lewis has good speed and use of change of speed and direction. He is a competitive defender, controlling his assignment, keeping them out the paint. Whats the trend? He rebounds his position.
