2025 Grind Session Owensboro (Games 4-7)

Grind Session recap.

Fridays games:

Game 4
Academys of Central Florida 90 vs Hamilton Heights 51

After playing Gillion Prep tough most of the game the day before, Hamilton Heights came out flat and didn’t look ready to play. 2027 and top 50 guard Martay Barnes came out on fire today and ready to play and toyed with Hamilton Heights defenders.

Game 5
Southeastern Prep 96 vs Gillion Prep 84

Southeastern led throughout most of the game and pulled away at the end, but Gillion Prep never stopped fighting, which is a tribute to their staff. Southeastern was led with a balanced attack with 4 guys in double figures. They were led by star 2027 PG Beckham Black, who once again had an all-around game with 17 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds. Highly ranked 2027 forward CJ Rosser added 15 points and 7 rebounds. Once again, FSU commit Marcis Ponder had a monster game with 23 points and 12 rebounds. 2026 SG and Arkansas State commit Aaron McGee put on a shooting display and led all scorers with 26 points.

Game 6
Albuquerque Prep 75 vs Daviess County 69

This was my first time seeing Albuquerque, and they were well coached and talented. They were led by talented 6’10” unsigned senior DJ Smith. He showed he can do work in the post and stepped out to knock down the 3. He tallied 20 points and 8 rebounds. 2027 top 100, Brandon Mason Jr. chipped in 14 points. Local high school Daviess County was led by 2026 (UT Chattanooga commit), PG Jonathan Moss, who led all scorers with 30 points and 9 rebounds. He just didn’t have enough help to get them over the hump.

Game 7
Prolific Prep 78 vs iSchool 47

Early on, iSchool tried to make it a game and kept it close. In the second half, and I don’t know with the staff said at halftime, but a different team came out, and Prolific dominated the 2nd half. 2026 Bruce Branch, arguably the top-ranked player, came ready to play and put up an efficient and easy 21 points and 8 rebounds. Everyone saw playing time for Prolific in the blowout win. Also to note: 2026 Caleb Holt sat out the game for precaution.
